HOLLYWOOD – Rumors have been rife about the casting of HBO’s second season of True Detective, with names such as Vince Vaughn being banded around with what can only be described as gay abandon, but Studio Exec can now confirm that Jack Black and Zach Galifianakis have both been confirmed in lead roles.
Although details are still scarce, first indications are that the plot will be related to but not follow on from the original Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey show. A HBO insider told the Exec:
This is going to be the darkest thing Zach Galifianakis and Jack Black have ever done. Zach and Jack are both playing detectives. Zach plays a guy called Rudy Harbinger. He’s a wild card manic depressive with Asperger’s, an interest in the occult and a penchant for S&M and heroin addiction. Jack plays Colin Straight. He has a family and belongs to the bridge club, but Colin also has his dark side. He licks his fingers before he takes chips from a bowl everyone is sharing and when he uses the bathroom in someone else’s house, he doesn’t flush.
Jack Black and Zach Galifianakis both declined to comment.
True Detective Season 2 will broadcast in 2015.
