THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE RATED NC – 17

HOLLYWOOD – The second film featuring Oscar winner and staircases challenged Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be seeking an NC-17 certificate.
Francis Lawrence – Jennifer’s father and the director of both segments – told Studio Exec EXCLUSIVELY that he was ‘tired of pussy footing around with the violence and the sex.’

This is about a world in which gladiatorial contests pitch kids against each other and in the first one we were very much aware that the readers of the book were in the teenage to young adult category, but having made a load of money I stipulated before I returned that this time I would have final cut on what went in and out.

The second film will not only be more violent and include unsimulated sex in an already notorious orgy scene that takes place in the previously unseen Hump District, it also includes footage of real animals being tortured to death. Lawrence defends his decision:

I’d been talking to Pete Jackon who is the keenest animal torturer I know, aside from Tom Hiddleston, and he was saying, “Torture a horse. Go on! It’ll be funny!” So I did and it adds a visceral edge to the film we needed. So then I was hooked and we went through the farm. Owls get killed and there’s a scene with a giraffe and a helicopter that is not for the faint hearted.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released in November, 2013.
