GWYNETH PALTROW TO STAR IN SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION REMAKE

HOLLYWOOD – Stephen King announced that Gwyneth Paltrow will star in the remake of his classic film The Shawshank Redeption due to start filming this May.

Gwyneth Paltrow is to star in a remake of the Shawshank Redemption. The Shakespeare in Love star will play Andrea Dufresne, an accountant unjustly accused of the murder of her husband. Sent to serve a life sentence at the Shawshank Women’s Prison, she must learn to live in the prison while staying true to herself.

Stephen King will direct the new version. He wrote the original short story ‘Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption’.

He spoke EXCLUSIVELY with the Studio Exec about the new film:

I loved the original film that Frank Darabont directed, but as with The Shining and Stanley Kubrick I always felt that it wasn’t quite what I had in mind. The idea of changing the protagonist to a woman and updating it came to me while I was watching Orange is the New Black. First, I called Gwyneth’s people and they gave me her number. She loved it. We met and that was that.

Gwyneth Paltrow said it was thrilling to do something that wasn’t a vegan cook book.

I’m a huge fan of Tim Robbins and of the original film. But what really appeals to me about the script is that I don’t get my head chopped off. That’s actually all I care about.

Leslie Jones will play Red.

The Shawkshank Redemption will be released in 2018.

FIRST LOOK AT SPIKE LEE’S THE JOSEPH FIENNES STORY

HOLLYWOOD – The Studio Exec has obtained a sneak peak at the new Spike Lee film: The Joseph Fiennes Story.

Spike Lee’s biopic of actor and Voldemort brother Joseph Fiennes is well into production and the first picture was released today EXCLUSIVELY to the Studio Exec. The Do The Right Thing director last night stated that his film of the Shakespeare in Love star was a direct response to Joseph Fiennes’ appearance as Michael Jackson in a new TV show.

Spike Lee came by the Studio Exec bungalow to discuss the new project:

I like Joseph Fiennes. I love him in everything he’s ever been in, especially Flash Forward. But frankly following the announcement of the Oscars and the campaign to promote diversity this news came as a slap in the face to all folks who had been upset about the lack of diversity in recent years. So I’ve decided I’m going to fight fire with fire.

The film will cover Joseph Fiennes career from Shakespeare in Love to the present day.

I’m interested in Joseph Fiennes as I think that it is a unique story of fame and anonymity.  Joseph is famous but at the same time always in the shadow of his brother, who will be played by Samuel L. Jackson.

The Joseph Fiennes Story will be released in 2017.

JOSEPH FIENNES FOUND IN A HOLE

HOLLYWOOD – Shakespeare in Love actor Joseph Fiennes has been found at the bottom of a deep hole in Cornwall, England.

The shaken actor was rescued yesterday afternoon when Alan and Mavis Petersen, walking their border collie Deridda, heard cries for help coming from a hole near the path. It is believed that Fiennes must have fallen down the hole sometime shortly after shooting FlashForward. His agent spoke EXCLUSIVELY to the Studio Exec:

This is a real relief. I’ve been trying to contact Joseph for years. Literally years. I thought he was mad because it was me that persuaded him to do Killing Me Softly, but all this time he’s been down the hole in Cornwall. It comes, I have to say, as a relief. Now we can finally start looking at those offers for Shakespeare in Love Again that we’ve been getting. Or at least got ten years ago.

How is Joseph?

He’s fine. Obviously he’s lost weight and he’s a little bit deranged. At first there was this preternatural calm but then he learned that Ralph Fiennes (Joseph’s brother) got a role in the Harry Potter films and he went ballistic.

Still rivals, huh?

Apparently when he was in the hole, Joseph made a model of his brother out of pebbles and twigs and mud, meticulous and perfect in every detail, just so that he could kick it in the head.

Yikes.

I know.

But there’s one thing that confuses me. If Joseph Fiennes has been stuck down this hole for five years or more, how come he was in American Horror Story recently?

This stings a bit because he didn’t come to me, but apparently some of his old FlashForward pals knew where Joseph was all along and they’d come and collect him from hole via a helicopter and a winch, He’d shoot his scenes and then they’d put him back in the hole where he would give Ralph a healthy thrashing and resume his rocking back and forth and keening.

What’s next for Joseph?

Appropriately enough he’s doing a film called Risen, about the resurrection of Jesus. Kevin Reynolds of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Waterworld fame is on the job. So we’re all very excited.

Risen will be released 2018.

ONLY GOD FORGIVES ‘BASICALLY A REMAKE OF BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL’

COPENHAGEN – Nicholas Winding Refn has revealed that his Drive follow up and Cannes contender Only God Forgives has taken as its inspiration The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The Pusher director commented:

I already had the script of Only God Forgive written when I saw The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and immediately I saw the thematic similarities of a violent clash between East and West, man and woman. I immediately rewrote the script to bring it more in line.

John Madden – director of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and other comfortably carpeted films such as Shakespeare In Love – said that he was flattered by the attention paid to his films:

I know Nicholas’ work very well and it is difficult for me to believe he could have found anything inspiring in my well worn but pleasant little film. And yet he is adamant that my film is the true inspiration for his so, with that in mind, I can only feel great pride. Mystification naturally, but also pride.

The Great Dane (as Refn prefers to be known) said:

My film will obviously be a bit more violent, because basically I haven’t got the courage of John just to let the story tell itself and I need to drag the audience into my world via such flummeries. I tried to cast the same actors but Bill Nighy was doing every other film this year and had quite a full schedule and Judi Dench slapped my face, which I took as a personal honour.

Only God Forgives will première at the 66th Cannes Film Festival.
