LONDON – Richard E. Grant has confirmed that he will be reprising his beloved character Withnail in Game of Thrones season six.
George R.R. Martin told The Studio Exec that he was as ‘Happy as a pig in shit’ that Grant had signed up to the series and they didn’t have to cast an alternative actor:
I’ll be honest, it was nearly Bruce Willis. In fact he’d been staying at a cottage in the Lake District for the last few months to prepare for the role and I must say, he gave it his best shot. The last time I saw him he’d developed a taste for lighter fluid. It’s rotten stuff on it’s own but if you squeeze a bit in a Vodka Martini, you wouldn’t know it was there.
Martin went on to say that the writers have incorporated several of Withnail’s famous lines into the Game of Thrones script and provided us with a few examples of the adapted dialogue:
All right, this is the plan. We go to King’s Landing and get wrecked, then we eat a Dawlish pork pie, then we drop a couple of ghost berries each. That means we’ll miss out on Monday but come up smiling Tuesday morning.
I feel like an imp shat on my head.
We’ve gone on holiday to Castle Black by mistake.
Meanwhile in other Game of Thrones news, George R.R Martin’s son, Steve Martin, has denied rumours that he is to appear in a cameo role as a deranged Ironborn dentist:
“It’s pack of lies.”, said Martin.
I no longer dabble in amateur dentistry. But if you want any nitrous oxide, I’ll do you a great deal. HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA.
Game of Thrones season six is due in 2016
