GWYNETH PALTROW TO STAR IN SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION REMAKE

HOLLYWOOD – Stephen King announced that Gwyneth Paltrow will star in the remake of his classic film The Shawshank Redeption due to start filming this May.

Gwyneth Paltrow is to star in a remake of the Shawshank Redemption. The Shakespeare in Love star will play Andrea Dufresne, an accountant unjustly accused of the murder of her husband. Sent to serve a life sentence at the Shawshank Women’s Prison, she must learn to live in the prison while staying true to herself.

Stephen King will direct the new version. He wrote the original short story ‘Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption’.

He spoke EXCLUSIVELY with the Studio Exec about the new film:

I loved the original film that Frank Darabont directed, but as with The Shining and Stanley Kubrick I always felt that it wasn’t quite what I had in mind. The idea of changing the protagonist to a woman and updating it came to me while I was watching Orange is the New Black. First, I called Gwyneth’s people and they gave me her number. She loved it. We met and that was that.

Gwyneth Paltrow said it was thrilling to do something that wasn’t a vegan cook book.

I’m a huge fan of Tim Robbins and of the original film. But what really appeals to me about the script is that I don’t get my head chopped off. That’s actually all I care about.

Leslie Jones will play Red.

The Shawkshank Redemption will be released in 2018.

5 FACTS YOU NEVER KNEW ABOUT THE WALKING DEAD

HOLLYWOOD – AMC’s The Walking Dead returns for part two of its sixth season on Sunday with the show’s central group of survivors in danger from the zombie onslaught.

With The Walking Dead returning, everyone is very excited but what do we really know about The Walking Dead? We sent the Studio Exec undead FACT Squad into the post-apocalyptic wastelands to get the FACTS.

  1. The Walking Dead takes its title from a Johnny Cash lyric: ‘I hear the zombies approaching, they’re walking and they’re dead, I fear that I can’t kill them lest I shoot them in the head, the Walking Dead are coming, and there’s nothing I can do, but I swear by the Lord Jesus, I’m gonna kill me a few.’ The song was turned into a series of graphic novels by Robert Kirkland and these in turn were then turned into a TV series which tragically Johnny himself never got an opportunity to watch.
  2. The original event that causes the zombification of the world is confined entirely to diet.
  3. The real name of the main actor  playing Rick Grimes, which is given as Andrew Lincoln, is actually Egg.
  4. Although the Walkers are similar to zombies they aren’t actually the same. In fact, the original show runner for the first season Frank Darabont called them Werewolves with alopecia. His continued insistence that the Walkers should be though of as Werewolves caused a rift in the creative team – who believed the Walkers to be uncool and clumsy vampires.
  5. A HBO made rip off The Walking Dead to be directed by Danny Boyle is planned for production later this year. It is to be based on 28 Days Later and is called The Running Dead.

TIM ROBBINS SUES FRANK DARABONT AND STEPHEN KING

Taking a shower

NEW YORK – Actor, director, activist and Howard the Duck co-star Tim Robbins has issued a legal writ against Walking Dead creator Frank Darabont and cult horror writer Stephen King.

giggling

Claiming damages of $12 million in lost earnings, the legal case dates back to Tim Robbins’ work on The Shawshank Redemption, a film Darabont directed based on a short story by King. Robbins has claimed repeatedly in interviews that far from helping his career – as was widely perceived – the film in fact has had a damaging effect on his career, as well as ‘social embarrassment’. The Studio Exec‘s very own legal expert Tank ‘Shuffly’ Jones commented on the case:

It is an historic damages case, which claims that during the filming of The Shawshank Redemption the claimant, Robbins, was forced to repeatedly crawl through a mile of shit, with the effect that despite cleansing, pneumatic showering, bleaching and scrubbing has left a lingering taint or odour, which has had a detrimental effect on his career and personal relations, as well as causing the plaintiff, Robbins, repeated embarrassment.

Personal friend Sean Penn said that the Hudsucker Proxy star had been writhing with hatred for Darabont ever since the making of the film:

Tim told me a number of times that when he was filming the scene he could hear Morgan Freeman whispering to Frank Darabont and the pair of them laughing like little girls. Fact of the matter is they didn’t need to use actual shit but they did it because they had got bored of Tim’s endless liberalism.

2 WAR HORSE FILMS GREEN LIT

HOLLYWOOD – Following the moderate success of War Horse, Steven Spielberg has announced that two sequels will follow the adventures of Joey: Peace Horse and Glue Factory Horse.

Although Steven will not take the director’s chair he will oversee productions as an Executive Producer, leaving the shouting of ‘action’ and ‘cut’ to old friend Spike Lee.

Peace Horse has already got a script and some of the story is known as an early draft of the script by Frank Darabont leaked onto the Internet. Having survived for the horrors of the First World War, Joey and his best friend and owner, Albert return to the farm even as Georgia burns in the background. Joey is set to work ploughing the fields as the increasingly unsentimental Albert follows his father into depression and alcoholism. Following the death of his parents, Albert marries Nora, a girl who it turns out also has a horse, called Mimsy, who Joey falls in love with. However, Albert stating boldly that ‘we don’t need two horses’ shoots Mimsy in the foreface with his father’s shotgun, before in a drunken rage turning the gun on his wife and then himself.

The second film starts in the smoking ruins of the farm with David Thewlis – reprising his role as Lyons – frames Joey for the murder of Albert and Nora and sells Joey to a glue factory. What happens next is as yet unclear but the running time of the film (21 minutes) doesn’t look good for Joey.

Spielberg said ‘When we made the first War Horse no animal was harmed despite our best efforts. I’m hoping Spike Lee will manage finally to kill this goddam horse.’

War Horse 2 and 3 will be released in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
