HODOR SPIN OFF MOVIE GREENLIT

HOLLYWOOD – A spin off movie of the popular Game of Thrones character Hodor is to be made into a separate movie, HBO revealed today.

Everyone’s favorite mono-word character Hodor is to get his own spin off film HBO announced today. The movie will star Kristian Nair and is currently being written by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss in conjunction with George RR Martin.

The big friendly giant will have his own story which is set before they events that being season one of the television series but will not feature him as a youth.

George RR Martin took time out from not finishing the latest book to talk EXCLUSIVELY with the Studio Exec:

We did think about making a version of the story where we would go back to when he was called Wyllis. I even toyed with a Different Strokes situation. He would always be getting into trouble with the Starks and Jon Snow. It was very funny, but ultimately we just realized there wasn’t enough story there and so we decided to go back to the idea of what makes Hodor great and that’s basically Hodor.

So what is the story?

I can give you a twist that I hope the guys don’t mind me telling. We were obviously worried that the main character just has one word for the whole film to repeat. That’s okay for TV where you have lots of other characters but we thought it might not be enough for the movie. So we came up with this idea that Hodor is only saying Hodor whenever the Starks are in earshot. Aside from that he speaks normally with a slight Oxford accent. This is really funny. It gets him out of so much trouble. The only problem is Kristian is having real difficulty learning his lines. So there’s a chance we might just go back to him saying Hodor all the time. David Mamet did a first draft for us two years ago so we’d just go back to that one.

Hodor: The Motion Picture will be released in 2018.

DAVID FINCHER SIGNS ON FOR GAMER GATE: THE MOVIE

HOLLYWOOD – David Fincher will direct a new film based on the Gamer Gate ‘scandal’ set to star Stephen Baldwin and Rooney Mara from a screenplay by David Mamet.

The Social Network director said that the film would be ‘a kind of sequel’ to The Social Network:

In The Social Network we looked at the troubled lonely male who finds a way to power. Although he invents a social networking site, he himself is socially inept. In fact that’s basically why he does it. Roll on to the world of gaming and what you have is those same males, lonely and fearful of women and they see their world increasingly infringed on by girls and this leads to a virulent hatred and misogyny and bullying.

But what about the issue of journalistic ethics in the gaming community?

Oh that was complete nonsense from the get go. A guy had a hot girlfriend who was a programmer and they broke up and he blogged all their shit. It was low level revenge porn, without the porn. And most of it was inaccurate and has since been corrected. But what I’m interested in is the misogyny that then ensued with women being harassed and threatened with cyber bullying and actual violence. I’m casting Rooney because she is the girl who instigates The Social Network, and I got to thinking she doesn’t have much agency in that film. What if she became a hot shot game designer, and her male competitors couldn’t handle it.

Gamer Gate will be released in 2016.

DAVID MAMET DEVELOPING FLAPPY BIRD THE MOVIE

HOLLYWOOD – Esteemed playwright and film director, David Mamet is in the process of developing a script based on Vietnamese programmer Dong Nguyen‘s game Flappy Bird

The Glengarry Glen Ross writer said:

I’m fascinated by the difficult to quote W.B. Yeats. Dong’s game is ludicrously difficult and totally unrewarding, with its jerky graphics and poor game play. Well, that for me is a perfect metaphor for life: difficult,. unrewarding, ugly and short. It’ll be my first children’s film.

Mamet has managed to line up some of the finest of American acting talent to appear in the film, including Dustin Hoffman and Al Pacino. Mr. Pacino spoke to the Studio Exec earlier today:

I’m not entirely sure what David wants me to play or do, but I trust him completely. He’s a serious artist, so in his hands I know something beautiful will happen. I’ll just ask him – do you want ‘whoo-har’ or do you quiet and then ‘whoo-har’?

Hoffman also spoke to us on the phone but who can understand a word he says?

Flappy Birds will be released July 2015.

PRODUCTION ON YEAR TWO SEQUEL STALLS

HOLLYWOOD – Undoubtedly the hit comedy of 2009 was Year One starring Michael Cera and Jack Black and directed by Dr. Egon Spengler himself (as he prefers to be known, Harold Ramis.

Given the critical and commercial success – unprecedented in the world of comedy – a sequel seemed like a no-brainer, but the sequel – Year Two – has been stuck in pre-production for two years now (ironically, but not funnily) and looks like going nowhere fast, much to the chagrin of laughter lovers everywhere.

Jack Black spoke to German magazine, Swinehund earlier this week:

When something is a massive success, and I mean a phenomenal success, the way Year One was, there is obviously the urge to immediately repeat it but there is also the contrary-wise caution that every responsible artist must apply in order not to ruin what has already been created. If you look at my ‘ouvre‘ you will see I am very careful not to sully the beauty of – say – Gulliver’s Travels, by making a wholly unnecessary Gulliver’s Travels 2.

Michael Cera is also adamant about not wishing to go over old ground:

As an actor I want to push myself. Every project has to be completely different. Look, I started playing a drippy nerdy looking boy in Arrested Development. What kind of asshole would I be if I was still basically playing that character? It would be as unthinkable as remaking Arrested Development.

However, hope is not lost. Both Cera and Black have turned up at big Hollywood parties dressed as their Year One characters Zed and Oh. Harold Ramis is known to be keen to return, telling close friend Whoopi Goldberg: ‘I’d be keen to return.’ More positive news comes from David Mamet who admitted to having already written the first draft of the sequel. ‘Jack and Michael are hard taskmasters but I’m sure once they’ve seen where I’ve taken the characters, they will be keen to jump on board,’ Mamet told Studio Exec.

Year Two might be out in 2015.

SAM MENDES TO DIRECT HE-MAN

After the box office success of Skyfall, director Sam Mendes has been given a 250 million dollar war chest to finance his dream project, an epic black and white remake of the cartoon classic He-Man & The Masters of the Universe performed exclusively in ancient Sumerian.

It’s a great script,“ said an excited Mendes. “Myself and David Mamet have been working on it for well over a decade and we both agree that it’s our best work to date.”

Mendes admitted that the original drafts of the script were much too child friendly and he was struggling to make it work.

It was like Game of Thrones but without the violence and incest. It was only when I saw Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ that I decided it should be done in another language. After all the characters are from Eternia, not Earth, so it makes no sense that they would speak with an American accent. Originally I asked David to create an entire language from scratch but after he eventually stopped laughing and offered his resignation, we decided that Sumerian was the way forward.

That bold decision inspired Mendes to make further drastic changes.

Everything has been stripped down to the bare minimum. Originally it was going to be in 3D with masses of CGI and special effects but it’s going to be in black and white and no effects at all. In fact the only reason it’s costing so much is that we are building a life-size replica of Castle Grayskull in the Scottish Highlands.

Mendes also revealed that he already has his main cast in place.

Chris Hemsworth will play He-Man and Tom Hiddleston is Skeletor. I didn’t known Chris but I’m known Tom for years and his Skeletor is genuinely one of the most frightening characters in cinema history. He sent us an audition tape of himself dressed in a skull mask brutally murdering a swan and I knew immediately that he was the cold-hearted bastard we’d been looking for.

Despite the changes Mendes is sure that fans of the original series will enjoy his twisted version of the He-Man Universe.

If I had to compare it to another film, I’d say it’s like The Seventh Seal but much, much bleaker and the violence is so extreme we’ll be lucky to get a R-rating. Then there’s the incest, the bestiality and the murder and torture but it’s not all grim. Orko the magician makes an appearance and his rape scene mainly takes place off camera.

He-Man & The Masters of the Universe is due for release in 2015.

AL PACINO WINS L’OREAL CONTRACT

HOLLYWOOD – Al Pacino is the new face of beauty product company L’Oréal. He will be appearing in a series of adverts in their famous ‘Because I’m worth it’ campaign. Previous luminaries include Patrick Dempsey, Gerard Butler and Hugh Laurie (?), as well as some girls.

Pacino said he was delighted to receive lots of money and not have to do much:

I’ve always loved the theater and making films is good as well, but I never truly saw myself as a model. It’s ridiculous. Who am I? I was never comfortable as a sex symbol. But now I’m stripping off for playboy and showing Mister Bojangles to the world. And now L’Oréal want to put my mush on their shampoo advert? Why the hell not!

How Much do you think your recent appearance in the HBO TV movie Phil Spector influenced the French cosmetic giant?

Oh without a doubt. And I have to say this is all David [Mamet]’s doing. When I turned up and he showed me the various wigs, I was like woah, David. What the fuck! But then he explained that Phil Spector’s dream was to one with the music and what is more one with the music than the microphone, ergo he wanted to become a microphone and that’s what the hair was for. And I was there, dumbass that I am, thinking it just made me look like a complete asshole.

LITIGATION OF THE TITANS SET FOR JULY RELEASE

HOLLYWOOD  – Following the massive commercial and intellectual success of Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans which changed the conversation of the world and some say lead indirectly to the electoral victory of Barack Obama, a sequel to complete the trilogy was inevitable and so it has been said and so it will be so, with Litigation of the Titans set for a Summer release.

Director David Mamet says that the latest instalment sees hero Perseus played by ‘actor’ Sam Worthington, leaving Greek law school under Pericles (Bill Nighy) when his horse Pegasus is involved in an accident involving uptight Head of Faculty Draconian (Sam Neill).

‘This is a real change of direction,’ Homicide director, Mamet whispered. ‘We’ve had Krakens and Zeus and all sorts of nonsense, but I thought let’s go in a different direction, less mythology and more miffed-ology.’

Sam Worthington grinned, ‘It’s great because under David I don’t have to do any “acting” as such. I just say shit like objection, and side bar.’

But won’t there be less drama?

No, not at all. Because there really are some interesting by laws that have been infringed and the set piece about precedents is breath taking, especially in 3D.

Litigation of the Titans will be released in 2014.
