McG DIRECTING HEAT 2

HOLLYWOOD – Several weeks ago Michael Mann announced he has co-written and will be publishing the sequel / prequel novel to his 90s smash hit crime thriller, Heat. Today Mann announced that Charlie’s Angels and Terminator: Salvation director, McG is directing Heat 2. With McG directing Heat 2, we caught up with the controversial director to talk about this surprise announcement.

So, McG Directing Heat 2. How Did You Get That Gig?

Honestly, I have no f**king idea. I was settled in directing shitty TV episodes of whatever, which suited me fine. Then from nowhere, Micky Mann calls me and Badda-bing! I got the gig. Go figure?

What Are Your Plans For Casting?

As I’m sure you know, the book follows Val Kilmer’s character Chris after the events from the original. It also tells the stories of Al’s and Bobby’s characters before we met them in Heat. I’m gonna stick with the same actors for continuity. Marty Scorsese perfected the de-ageing techniques in The Irishman, so I’m just gonna piggy-back on what he did. Easy.

Are You Sure About That? Not Everybody Was Convinced.

F**k them! If it’s good enough for Marty, it’s sure as shit good enough for me. I’m also casting Sam Worthington in it. Not sure who he’s gonna play yet. But I just think he’s one of the most compelling performers we have.

What Else Can You Tell Us About The Movie?

Where the first movie fell down was in the lack of action sequences. Yeah, it had a decent gun battle, but where was all the bullet time? Where were all the hunter-killer robots? That’s what the Heat universe needs. Hey, hang on just one goddam minute. That gives me an idea. We can make this not only a Heat sequel and prequel, but also a prequel to Terminator: Salvation. Sam can reprise his role of Robby The Robot, or whatever the f**k he was in that movie. Maybe we could even get Christian Bale back as John Connor. He had so much fun playing that role.

Are You Sure That Will Fit In With What’s Gone Before?

You have seen my work before, right? Do you think I give a shit about any of that? This is gonna be awesome, baby. YEAH!

Heat 2: Turn Up The Temperature Is Slated For A 2024 Release

MARK WAHLBERG AND BRADLEY COOPER TEAM UP FOR CHARLIE’S ANGELS REMAKE

HOLLYWOOD – Mark Wahlberg and Bradley Cooper to star in Charlie’s Angels remake.

Mark Wahlberg and Oscar-nominated Bradley Cooper are in early talks to topline Sony’s Charlie’s Angels reboot. Elizabeth Banks will direct. The film will be released June 7, 2019.

Based on the original 1976-1981 television series, starring Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and Jaclyn Smith, Charlie’s Angels first hit the big screen in 2000, with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu starring as the crime-fighting trio working at a private detective agency for the mysterious, unseen Charlie Townsend. The film went on to make $264M at the box office and spun the 2003 sequel Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, which pulled in $259M worldwide.

Wahlberg and Cooper are famous for being men but Banks says that she doesn’t see this as a problem.

We get too hung up on this girl movie men movie thing. First off Charlie’s Angels is ripe for a re-imagining. A powerful woman takes over and these bimbo guys have to fight the bad guys. Or girls. I mean, who cares? This film will explore gender and action.

James Cameron welcomed the news.

It’s about time we had more films with men in them. That Patty Jenkins is such a pain.

Charlie’s Angels will be released in 2019.

ELIZABETH BANKS SAYS STEVEN SPIELBERG HAS A STUPID CHIN

HOLLYWOOD – Today actress Elizabeth Banks accused Steven Spielberg of having a stupid chin.

Elizabeth Banks got in some trouble the other day when she claimed that Steven Spielberg had not made diverse enough movies. Specifically she referred to the fact that none of his movies featured female leads. Her pro-diversity stance was somewhat compromised by the fact she’d obviously meant white women because she’d forgotten The Color Purple, and grown white women because she’d also forgotten The BFG. Though to be fair, almost everyone else had as well.

Chin fully visible

Following an apology, Elizabeth Banks however then proceeded to launch another attack on the Jaws director saying that his chin was stupid.

I mean it might be, right? How do we know it isn’t stupid if we’ve never seen it. He’s had that beard, like forever. Why would someone wear a beard like that if he didn’t have something seriously wrong with his chin.

Social media was instantly flooded by pictures of an unbearded Spielberg but Banks was unrepentant. ‘He used to own slaves,’ she said, referring to a Studio Exec article from long ago. This article has since had its accuracy called into question: READ HERE.

She will next direct the first all-male Charlie’s Angels film.

MERYL STREEP TO PLAY CAMERON DIAZ IN DIAZ

HOLLYWOOD – Ron Howard today confirmed that Meryl Streep is to star as Cameron Diaz in a new biopic based on the actress’ life entitled simply: Diaz

Scripted by Peter Morgan, the film will see an elderly Cameron Diaz looking back on her life and reminiscing about the peaks and the troughs. The writer said:

It is something of an imagined history if you like, but I find Cameron Diaz endlessly interesting, fascinating even and I think only an actress of Meryl’s calibre could take on the challenge.

Streep confirmed that she was a lifelong fan of Cameron Diaz, claiming that the role represented a dream come true:

What Cameron did in Knight and Day, what she did in Gangs of New York, rescuing that film from the inadequacy of Day-Lewis, what she pioneered in There’s Something About Mary… I mean she lit a torch that we all followed.

Have you spoken with Cameron Diaz about the role?

No, I’ve researched the role obviously, but whenever I’ve played real people I’ve preferred not to meet the real person in case I end up doing something that is merely an imitation. Plus with Cameron Diaz I don’t mind admitting I’m intimidated. I mean no actress is so technically adept and so courageous. Just watch Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle! The stunts!Amazing.

And more recently The Counselor

No, she was shit in that.

Diaz will be released in 2015.

CHARLIE’S ANGELS PREQUEL ‘RETURNS TO ORIGINAL BRONTE NOVELS’

HOLLYWOOD – Jane Campion – the writer and director of the new Charlie’s Angels prequel Charlie’s Angels: Danger but Pray, with Decorum – has pledged that she will return to the original spirit of the novels, written one hundred and fifty years ago by Charlotte Bronte

Campion was chosen by producers to helm the reboot because of her successful handling of similar period material, particularly with her Oscar winning The Piano and more recently Bright Star. The new film CA: DBWD returns the franchise to its original source material a series of six novels written by Charlotte Bronte in the mid-Nineteenth Century, some scholars suggest with the collaboration of her sisters, Anne and Emily. The New Zealand born director spoke exclusively to Studio Exec:

In the original novel, Charlie is actually short for Charlotte the matriarch of the Angels – Emily, Catherine and Anne – all of whom are in need of a husband with 5000 a year and substantial property, or a vicarage. They each have a separate skill – piano playing, sewing, singing madrigals – which they use to solve crimes. They are women of their times and not the sexual objects of the TV series or the galumphing fools of the last two films. We need actresses of subtlty and keen intelligence to play these nuanced roles.

Miley Cyrus, Selana Gomez and Lindsay Lohan have all been confirmed, with Paris Hilton cast as Charlotte.

Charlie’s Angels: Danger but Pray, with Decorum will be released in 2015 .
