RIDLEY SCOTT’S EXODUS SLAMMED BY BOB MARLEY’S FAMILY
HOLLYWOOD – An early screening of Ridley Scott‘s new film Exodus: Gods and Kings has created a strongly negative reaction from the late Bob Marley’s family.
Ziggy Marley his son said:
It’s a disgrace. We’re very angry. It doesn’t represent my father’s life of all. There are none of the songs. Not even the song after which the film is named. Jamaica looks like a desert and not the luscious landscape I grew up in. And although Jamaica was a poor country and is, Scott makes it look almost prehistoric.
The film – starring Christian Bale as Bob Marley and Aaron Paul as Peter Tosh – covers a very early stage in their careers, when they were ‘in the wilderness’, as Scott has it. He spoke EXCLUSIVELY to Studio Exec about the controversy:
The film has nothing whatsoever to do with Reggae music and Mr. Marley.
So you wanted to avoid cliché?
No, it’s not that Exodus. It’s based on the Bible.
That was the album after Rastaman Vibration.
Yes. No. I mean…
Last question, will it be better than Prometheus?
Don’t you worry, about a thing, cos every little thing gonna be all right. Altogether now… Rise up this morning…
Exodus: Gods and Kings will be released in 2015.
