KYOTO – Nintendo have announced that they are to release Pokemon Go Auschwitz this weekend.
Responding to huge public demand, the games giant has announced that they are to release a new ‘Genocide’ version of popular game Pokemon Go.
In this version players will be able to search for hundreds of species of Pokemon in a real world environment made up entirely of sites of genocide. Auschwitz is included as well as other death camps throughout Europe. The Armenian genocide will also be available and more recent genocidal killing in Kosovo and Rwanda.
Closer to home, those with a historical bent will be able to visit sites in the United States where the US army wiped out tribes of First Nations peoples.
A spokesperson for the company said:
We hadn’t thought about this in terms of genocide at all but our customers are always way ahead of us and so we follow where they lead.
