LONDON – Nicole Kidman is to play former News of the World Editor Rebekah Brooks in the latest instalment of the popular Carry On series.

“I’m really excited to be playing Rebekah,” said Kidman:

She’s such a strong, positive role model for women. In an era when the media was controlled using bribery, corruption, extortion, blackmail, cohesion, threats and physical violence, she had absolutely no idea any of it was happening. She sat at her desk flicking through Vogue chewing on a skinny blueberry muffin completely oblivious to what her staff got up to. You know what they say. A good boss delegates but a great boss hasn’t got a f*cking clue what is going on.

Asked if she was happy that Brooks was recently cleared of any involvement in the UK phone hacking scandal, Kidman nodded:

We were all hoping it would have a happy ending because that helps at the box-office but on the other hand, if she had been sent to prison that would have set-up a sequel and women in prison is so hot right now with the whole Orange is the New Black phenomenon.

With most of the original cast of the Carry On series no longer with us, a brand new troop has been assembled.  Adam Sandler will play David Cameron, Jeffrey Rush is on board as Rupert Murdoch and Bruce Willis has signed on as Brooks’ former husband Ross Kemp.

Carry on Hacking is due for release in 2015.
