House of Cards writer Beau Willimon is currently writing a first draft but judging by what I’ve already read, I’m convinced it’s going to be a smash hit.
According to Hastings, the show begins with troubled actor Jack Mace (Labeouf) being arrested for disorderly conduct during a Broadway production of Chicago. Realizing his career is on the slide his agent suggests that he claims he is an alcoholic in order to gain public sympathy and so Mace voluntarily books himself into a rehab clinic. In there he strikes up an unlikely friendship with zany comedian Bob Jewel (Williams) who has a genuine long term substance problem.
In one episode Bob Jewel asks Julia Roberts to smuggle him in some ecstasy tablets in her bra during a visitation. In another, Mace and Jewel set up a gin still in the facility basement, with hilarious consequences. Hell, to be honest the show pretty much writes itself.
With rumoured cameos from the likes of Alec Baldwin, Kevin Spacey, Jack Nicholson and of course, Julia Roberts, Rehab is odds on to become the number one show of 2015 but will face stiff competition from the upcoming Jude Law series The Wooden Man.
