CORRECTION: MANIMAL MOVIE IS GO
HOLLYWOOD – Despite earlier reports to the contrary, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are to produce a film spin off version of the cult 80s TV show Manimal in their relentless quest to just continuing f*cking up the world.
Will Ferrell told the world’s press:
People keep begging us to stop. They say, ‘Will, you’re a funny guy, we liked you on SNL. But Jesus Christ, please stop. Please for the children, stop.’ And they’re sincere. After we made Anchorman 2 I can’t tell you how many people came up to me in the street with tears in their eyes, saying to me ‘Enough. Enough.’ Like I had been torturing their families or something, which in a way I had been.
The TV drama followed the adventures of English Professor Jonathan Chase (Simon MacCorkindale) who aids the New York police on cases using his weird ability to turn into animals.
Adam McKay – Ferrell’s producing partner – said:
Every time we’ve done something like this it works. Look at Land of the Lost. Will knocked that out of the park. Old TV show, action/comedy remake, critical acclaim, massive commercial success, Oscars…
Wha…? Well, 2009 was a tough year. That was the year of Slumdog Millionaire and Milk. But if no other film had come out Land of the Lost would have had it in the bag.
Manimal will be released no matter what we do or say.
