CANNES DIARY DAY 3

CANNES DIARY DAY 3

┬áCANNES – So everyone wanted to go and see this Turkish film called Winter Sleep. It was fifteen hours long and featured Captain Birdseye speaking to his hot wife for ten of those hours about maybe going to Istanbul, maybe not. SPOILER: he doesn’t go.

Atom Egoyan is a Canadian and The Captives is a Canadian thriller, which is to say it isn’t particularly thrilling at all. It also ‘stars’ Ryan Reynolds, who manages to get out acted by his own beard (borrowed from Ben Affleck, I’ve heard). I got an opportunity to talk to Reynolds after the screening. But declined.
There was a mad Arginitinian film called Wild Tales, which is worth watching if it ever breaks out of Argentina. It’s a bit like the Kentucky Fried Movie, but far more savage.
