ANDREW GARFIELD TO PLAY GAMBIT
HOLLYWOOD – After Channing Tatum’s departure from ‘Gambit,’ it has been announced that ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ star Andrew Garfield is the new number one choice to take on the role of the Ragin’ Cajun
“We like Andrew. He’s English, which means he has some kind of training which is always useful. Especially when it comes to learning accents and utilizing basic acting techniques,” says a Fox spokesperson.
The casting of Garfield would be something of a surprise as the reclusive star has been in and out of rehab since the critical failure of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’
“Andrew took the brunt of the ‘Spider-Man’ backlash and he was devastated,” says a close personal friend:
After ‘Spider-Man’ his behaviour became erratic. He’d turn up to comic conventions in disguise and attack people. This wasn’t widely reported in the press but at one convention he attempted to urinate on Stan Lee’s shoes, but fortunately he was apprehended by security just in time.
Garfield is just one of many casualties of Sony’s rebooted ‘Spider-Man’ franchise. Jamie Foxx has experienced hair loss, director Marc Webb has developed a nervous tic, and Emma Stone has become significantly more annoying.
Meanwhile, it is rumoured that Channing Tatum abandoned ‘Gambit’ in order to take on the role of Uncle Vanya in Sam Mendes’ upcoming National Theatre production of Chekov’s celebrated play.
“It’s classic Chekov—we’ve just added a few stripping scenes,” says Mendes.
Gambit is due for release in 2017
